Take THAT!!

Heh. Reason #985 why I love my nephews:

Kyle had an excursion at school that he didn't want to go on, so he conveniently "lost" the permission slip and was unable to go when the day arrived.

The substitute teacher that looked after the kids when Kyle's class when on the trip made them do a writing assignment. Kyle suggested this was slightly unfair that they have to do MORE work that was completely unnecessary to their schooling, just to keep them busy.

He was told in no uncertain terms to just do it.

So Kyle wrote the entire thing in ancient Angle-Saxon (which he has taught himself to read and write fluently).

When the teacher complained, he said she didn't specify it was to be in English and/or a language that anybody besides him in the entire school could read.

HA!

Another assignment he was given: create a marketing campaign for a product you have launched yourself and then make a model of this product.

Kyle chose to create a crossbow modified to shoot not just an arrow, but any object, thereby making ANYTHING a potential projectile weapon. And, not only did he create a kick ass marketing campaign, he actually built a full-scale working model. He crafted the wood himself, built the mechanisms, etc... and it WORKED.

The closer the due date came, the more Kyle worked on it, the more nervous my sister became and eventually she rang the school to say "Well, he's done the work, he's actually done a shit load of work, but I'm afraid he can't bring it to school because it's a FULLY FUNCTIONING WEAPON that can make ANY OBJECT LYING AROUND a targeted missile."

They eventually came to an agreement wherein Kyle got photos of the crossbow, footage of it actually working, and then disabled the launching mechanism and bought the frame to school to present.

Heh.

In English, he had an assignment to create a character driven narrative. He wrote a twelve chapter novel in which there were worlds, creatures, a war, and he had even created a whole new language for the book.

The assignment was in April, he has just gotten his back, because it has taken this long for the teacher to fully read and mark it. Obviously, he got higher marks.

Methinks there might be a few more specifications to the assignments when given out next year.

For example: word limit, must be in English and/or a language understood by someone other than the student, no lethal weaponry.

HEEEEEE. You go, Kyle!

Ok, I've been fairly lenient on fics lately (and there have been some shockers), but this? This?

It's the worst piece of smut I've ever read (and I've read some doozers). It's honestly the most un-sexy piece of writing. I can't even...

I think I'll spare you most of it, but I had to share this little gem...

"Cupping ber butt with both hands, he carried her to the bed and layed her down."

Wait... what? There's a bear in there?!?!?!

Alright, I can't finish this. It's about as sexy as your mum reading aloud the "Where Did I Come From?" book when you're ten.

I completely and fully expect that knock on the door any day now.

James has a giant, awful, horrific looking swollen and bruised eye/cheek on the left side of his face. He honestly looks like the poster boy for child abuse. It's heart breaking.

Okay peoples, let's try this again.

I have found a place to host all my fanvids. Yes, that's right, all my fanvids are up and viewable (for now). Let's hope the dastardly business douches won't take them down again.

What this means, however, is that you can expect to be spammed with at least two more vid posts. This one for VM, one for Firefly vids and another for miscellaneous.

Under the cut... Hotel California, Eat It, Tale As Old As Time, She Says, You Oughta Know, White Wedding, Cry, Tramp, Pretty When You Cry, Stupid Girl, Tell On You.

If nothing else, I suggest you watch the most popular vids to date: Hotel California, Eat It and Tale As Old As Time. (Rob Thomas himself saw "Eat It" and liked it! Wheeeeeeee!).

A tune as old as song... a tale as old as time... )

Ok, because I am tired and I don't think I can scrawl through one more Glee episode looking without my head exploding... can someone help me out here.

Besides Quinn, Finn and Will, have we met anyone's mother? I just need less than 3 seconds worth of footage here, people... This is frustrating.

Vid update: once I get this footage, I have 40 seconds to finish and they'll be an easy 40 secs as I already have them planned. It's coming together, folks. I'm very excited, I think it has worked well. Better than I thought it would.

Look, anyone out there NOT know how this works? Let me know, I'll explain it to you... AFTER I slap you in the face.

January: A photo-pictorial of epic proportions.

February: You know, I really like that word... it's kind of awesome (re: gahfuckit)

March: Fic Meme, because everybody and their dog seems to be doing it... (ie: gakked from... most likely you).

April: Heroes 3.21, Jacqui's thoughts: 1. Claire stop flirting with your daddy! 2. Peter stop flirting with your mommy!

May: Undeniable proof that I am a geek... Anthony finally got that 'sega arcade" PS3 game that came in his pack... and we've spent all night checking out the games (omg, Sonic! Sonic Spinball! Alex Kidd!). Let me just say, without further preamble, I kicked Anthony's *ass* in both Sonic and Alex Kidd.

June:Friday, ah yes the Wiggles.

July: In celebration does anyone want... anything? Really?

August: I haven't posted in a while. Mostly because nothing is going on right now, really.

September: I just lost several thousand words of my Casey/Veronica smut. It's 2:00am, I need to sleep, because i have to work tomorrow and there's pretty much NO WAY IN HELL I will make the deadline for my kink bingo now.

October: I'm bored...

November: Ok, yeah, sure, tinsel has been out in the shops for months now, but still.

December: Um... feeling needy and insecure...

Stage Fright!!

James had his school concert today. And, well, James suffers from what can only be called crippling stage fright. I managed to get a photo or two of his class being led onto the little stage area in their reindeer ears, but once the music started... well... all the other kids kinda half danced/swayed/blinked/stared at the songs and James covered his face with both hands, crumpled into himself and let out this little moanish wail of terror.

Needless to say I put away the camera and went up to calm him down. I ended up staying on the side of the stage for both songs with James right next to me, encouraging him to dance.

Fun.

So... uh... no video footage of his first performance. BUT, instead, James and I decided to give you a little performance of our very own to wish you all a merry Christmas...

Yes, flistspam, because I'm on lunch and it's quiet and you can all suck it up and read my brainless mind wanderings...

I'm a firm believer in the "do good things and good things will happen" philosophy. Anyone who knows me in real life (and most online) will tell you that I go to long lengths making the extra effort here and there for other people.

If someone asks for something, I am more likely to do that for them than anything for myself. Often this means I short change myself, wear myself thin, and miss out. More often than I'd like, this goes unnoticed and unthanked. I've accepted this. It's who I am. I'm a people pleaser, so that means if I aim to please everyone else, I have to scrifice my own wants. Done.

But, every so often, that comes back to me threefold and I feel happy and worthy and loved.

When people really, really appreciate the things I've done for them, it makes me happy.

When I get a surprise gift in return for something I did ten months ago and have completely forgotten about already? Cloud nine, I tells ye.

Sometimes it feels really good to get that thank you, especially unexpectedly.

Ok, help me out here peoples. Christmas baking. I'm making trays of sweet dessert type after-the-meal things. My list is as follows:

Gingerbread Star Mini Christmas Trees.
Mini Chocolate Christmas puddings.
Almond Caramel Cookies.
Cranberry and White Chocolate Biscotti.

Is there anything else you think I should add to that? What's nice and Christmassy?

This list? This list up there? THAT is why I'm busy in the next few weeks, even on the nights I don't have social events planned.

EPIC FAIL!!!

Ugh. December can blow me.

Seriously. It's SOOOOO busy. I have something on EVERY SINGLE DAY until (and through) Christmas. What's sleep? It's a good thing I practiced all my insomnia skills, because I will be running on virtually NO sleep until the holidays (mmmm... holidays).

Anyways, while I have gotten most of my christmas cards out (some of whose international recipients already have them!), these people will have to wait:

[info]afrocurl, [info]piperrhiannon, [info]motylik and [info]empty_marrow.

These people are getting special packages which need to be taken to the post office to be weighed and proper postage put on it (ugh), not to mention signing the little form saying I'm not about to blow up the world with my so-miniature-it-can-fit-in-an-envelope bomb. I can't see myself getting anywhere NEAR a post office until at least Friday...

So... um... SORRY to these people. You rock, I don't. Maybe you'll get it before Christmas, maybe you won't. I'll cross my fingers and hope.

(Bad Jacqui)

On the upside: James and I had a marvellous twilight picnic with friends last night, swapped kris kringle presents, had a ball. It was lovely to see everyone again. James got (yet anohter) guitar! He already has three, so I'm thinking we may re-gift it somewhere. Wrap it up under the wishing tree at target for a needy child or something. I'll buy James something extra to make up for it. He does NOT need a million guitars, I swear it.

And now, two weeks before Christmas, comes the BAKING. Hooooooooohmygod, people, the amount of baking i Have to do between now and Christmas is astronomical. Anthony's gonna have a fit. I did some baking last weekend and he was all "how much MORE do you need to bake?!?!?".

HA! Anthony, wait until the HOLIDAY BAKING.

Muah hah hah!
